Singapore publishes more official salary data than most countries, but it comes in three separate series that answer three different questions. This guide uses the two broad ones. The Occupational Wage Survey tells you what a specific job pays. The Labour Force Survey tells you what the typical full-time worker earns in total. A third series, the Graduate Employment Survey, covers starting pay and has its own guide.

What is the median salary in Singapore?
The median gross monthly income from work for full-time employed residents was S$5,775 in mid-2025, up from S$5,500 a year earlier. Half of full-time resident workers earned more than this and half earned less.
This is the figure to use for "what does a typical worker earn". It is not comparable with MOM's occupation wages used in the field pages and guides, which excludes bonuses and employer CPF and covers only private-sector firms with 25 or more staff. A S$5,775 income and a S$5,000 occupational wage can describe the same person.
How the nine occupational groups compare
MOM groups occupations using the Singapore Standard Occupational Classification. The ranges below are the lowest and highest occupation medians within each group, derived from MOM Table 4. MOM does not publish a single median per group in this table, so treat these as a map of the spread rather than a group average.

Basic wage, gross wage and gross income: which is which
- Basic wage
- Basic pay before employee CPF and income tax. Excludes employer CPF, bonuses, overtime, commissions, allowances and payments in kind. (Occupational Wage Survey)
- Gross wage
- Basic wage plus overtime, commissions, allowances and other regular cash payments. Still excludes bonuses, employer CPF, stock options and lump sums. This is the figure in the occupation table. (Occupational Wage Survey)
- Gross monthly income from work
- Everything an employee earns from work including employer CPF and one-twelfth of annual bonuses. This is the S$5,775 figure. (Labour Force Survey)
- Median and percentiles
- The median splits workers into a lower and upper half. The 25th and 75th percentiles mark the bottom and top quarter, so the middle 50% of earners sit between them.
What MOM says about using these numbers
MOM publishes a short set of statistical notes with every Occupational Wage release. They are worth reading before quoting any figure. In summary:
- They are a guide, not a rate card. Wages are aggregates of similar jobs. Scope, responsibilities, skills and productivity differ, so no two workers or jobs are alike.
- Bonuses are excluded. Occupations where performance bonuses are a large share of pay, such as brokers, dealers and senior management, will look lower than their total compensation.
- Year-on-year changes are noisy. The survey is a sample, so single-year wage changes fluctuate. MOM recommends looking at growth over five or ten years.
- Job titles come from employers. Occupations are coded from the titles employers report. If many people hold a managerial or professional title without the matching qualifications, that occupation's wage can be pulled down.
- Full-time employees only. Part-time, temporary, piece-rated and part-month workers are excluded from the wage tables.
The survey covered 5,230 private-sector establishments with at least 25 employees, about 391,300 full-time resident employees with CPF contributions in June 2025, with a 98% response rate. Public-sector pay, firms under 25 staff, and foreign employees are outside its scope. Sex and age breakdowns come from matching survey returns with CPF records.
Which number should you use?
Negotiating a job offer
Use the occupation table. Find the exact SSOC title, note the 25th to 75th percentile range, and compare basic with basic. An offer at the 25th percentile is low but not unusual; the 75th percentile is a realistic ceiling for most roles.
Judging if you are paid fairly overall
Use the S$5,775 median income if you want to know where you sit among all full-time residents. Remember it includes employer CPF and a share of bonus, so add those to your own pay before comparing.
Choosing a career or course
Start with the graduate salary guide for starting pay, then look up the occupation you would enter here for what mid-career pay looks like. Age-band figures are in the individual occupation guides.
Common questions
What is a good salary in Singapore?
There is no official definition. The median full-time resident earned S$5,775 a month in 2025 including employer CPF. In the occupation table, a wage above the 75th percentile for your job puts you in the top quarter of people doing that job.
What is the average salary in Singapore?
MOM reports medians rather than averages for these series because a small number of very high earners pull averages up. The median is the better "typical" figure. Sites quoting an "average salary" are usually either quoting the median or a commercial estimate.
Why is the occupation median lower than the income median?
Different populations and definitions. The occupation table excludes bonuses and employer CPF and covers only private firms with 25 or more staff. The income figure includes both and covers all full-time residents, including the public sector.
Does this cover foreigners or Employment Pass holders?
No. Both series cover residents, meaning citizens and permanent residents. Work-pass salary thresholds are set separately by MOM and are not derived from these tables.
How often is the data updated?
Occupational Wages are released each June for the previous June. The income series is updated with the Labour Force report around August or November. Foundific re-checks every figure against the official file when a new release lands.
