Common questions about a video editor & motion designer job
How do I learn video editing?
Start with one editing tool and finish small projects, such as a 30-second clip. Add motion graphics and sound once you can cut cleanly. Many Singapore providers run short courses, and a portfolio matters more than a certificate.
Is Adobe Premiere Pro good for beginners?
Yes. Premiere Pro has a large base of free tutorials and is widely used by Singapore employers. It takes a few weeks to learn basic cuts, titles and exports.
Should I learn Final Cut Pro or Premiere Pro?
Check the job ads in the area you want to work in. Premiere Pro and After Effects appear most often in agency and in-house roles. Final Cut Pro is common in Mac-based studios and with some freelancers.
Do I need a degree to work as a video editor in Singapore?
Not always. Many employers ask for a diploma or degree in a related field, but they look at your portfolio first. A reel with clear, finished work helps most.
